Louisiana Exiles Experience Memorable Rugby Tour Across France
The Louisiana Exiles recently returned from an unforgettable rugby tour across France with inspiresport, combining competitive fixtures, elite training experiences and cultural exploration across some of the country’s most iconic regions.
Travelling from Paris through the Basque Country and into the rugby heartland of southwest France, the tour offered players a unique opportunity to develop their game while experiencing the culture and history that makes French rugby so special.

Testing Themselves Against French Opposition
A key part of the tour was the opportunity for the Exiles to test themselves against strong French opposition in two fixtures.
Their first match came against Peyrehorade, a club with deep roots in the rugby culture of the southwest. Later in the tour, the team travelled to Tournefeuille for their second fixture, gaining valuable experience against different styles of play and continuing to build their international rugby experience.
One of the standout moments of the trip came with a professional training session at Stade Toulousain. The session gave players a rare insight into the preparation, skill execution and intensity required at one of Europe’s most successful rugby environments.
The team also experienced the passion of French rugby supporters firsthand when they attended a Colomiers vs Béziers match. Watching two historic clubs compete in a lively match provided another memorable highlight of the rugby program.
In the Basque region, the Exiles also had the chance to observe a professional training session with Aviron Bayonnais, gaining further exposure to elite standards and the deep-rooted rugby culture that exists in the area.

Exploring France Beyond the Pitch
Alongside the rugby program, the tour included a rich itinerary of sightseeing and cultural experiences.
The journey began in Paris with a guided tour of the famous Notre Dame Cathedral, where players learned about the history and architectural significance of one of France’s most iconic landmarks.
Heading south to the Basque Country, the group spent time exploring the coastal city of Biarritz. While there, they visited the Basque Museum to learn more about the region’s unique identity and traditions, and took part in a Pelota class, trying their hand at the traditional Basque sport.
The cultural experiences continued with a visit to the Château of Henry IV, offering an insight into French royal history. The team also travelled to Lourdes for a guided visit to the Grotto de Massabielle, one of the most significant pilgrimage sites in the Catholic world.
In Toulouse, widely regarded as one of the great rugby cities of France, the group visited the Catholic University of Toulouse and enjoyed a guided walking tour through the city’s historic center.
The trip concluded with a guided visit to the medieval fortified city of Carcassonne, where players explored the famous ramparts and narrow streets of one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval sites.
